If you are a Harley-Davidson owner, you wouldn’t be pleased. The brand new Harley you just bought, may kill you! As many as 57,000 Harley-Davidsons are reported to have this potentially fatal defect. These include the models Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Police Electra Glide, Police Road King, Road King, Road King Special, Street Glide, Street Glide Special, Road Glide and Road Glide Special manufactured from 9th May through 2nd July.
This is probably not what the Harley owners were expecting for the 4th of July, but too bad for them, that’s what they got. Harley Davidson is recalling 57,000 of such affected motorcycles.
This comes after reports, from the previous summer, of federal regulators investigating complaints from Harley-Davidson owners alleging that their brakes have failed without warning.
Reportedly, Harley has explained that there may be an incorrect installation of the clamp which goes on the engine oil cooler line.
As with all recalls, dealers will inspect and fix this faulty clamp free of charge. Affected owners may approach their dealers for the recall starting on Tuesday.
Harley Davidson has stated, “This is a voluntary recall in the interest of customer safety.”
